Netflix was known to be plotting a scheme to end shared passwords, which what was missing was how. A few days ago information was published that talked about the topic and in the end was not fulfilled, but now it is officially known.

The solution, a new subscription plan that allows customers to pay extra to share their account with people outside your home. The giant ofstreaming” presents this plan first to Spain (lucky for us, hip hip hooray!), Portugal, Canada and New Zealand.

What Netflix did not specify is when this solution will reach the rest of the countries. A version of this model is expected for the United States, since almost a third of its subscribers are in North America and Canada.

The company has more than 231 million paying users in 190 countriesand without saying it very loudly, estimate that up to 100 million households share their accounts with other people, which affects the ability to invest in new programs. It’s like they tell usIf we don’t get good stuff it’s because a lot of people are saving the subscription money.”

Officially, what they said is this: “We’ve always made account sharing easier for people living in the same household, with features like different profiles and multiple streams. Although they were hugely popular, they also caused confusion about how and where Netflix can be shared.

A lot has happened since the company itself told us in March 2017 that of “to love is to share a password”. This Tweet has been used for a while now to remind Netflix of the times when they saw it well.

But of course, in this distant year 2017, subscriptions were getting better and better at full sailand now there have even been quarters of losses, so the money has to be recovered elsewhere.

From now on, Netflix will have basic subscriptions (with and without advertising), standard and premium. The standard will allow you to add an additional user by paying 5.99 euros more per month and the premium will allow two additional users, with the same additional cost each..

The company will allow people who have used someone else’s account to transfer their history and profile to a new paid account. What has not been revealed is what will happen to accounts that continue to be shared outside of the primary residence.

It will not be a universally popular movement and there will be disgruntled current members. We will definitely see a reaction to this, which we hope will be similar to what we experienced when we raised prices.

Netflix subscription levels will stay that way in our countryremembering that the fee will be charged to the account configured as the primary:

– Basic with ads: 5.49€ monthly

– Basic: 7.99€ monthly

– Standard: 12.99€ per month (1 additional subscriber, €5.99 more per month)

– Prime: 17,99€ per month (2 additional subscribers, an additional €5.99 each per month)

Fun and partly scary fact, Netflix’s annual plan costs more than the annual Disney+, HBO Max and Amazon Prime Video plans combined!
