Elon Musk has shared his thoughts on Sam Smith’s live performance at the 2023 Grammys.

Smith took the stage with Kim Petras at the 65th Annual Awards in Los Angeles, Calif., last Sunday (February 5) for a live stream of the pair’s 2022 collaboration single “Unholy.”

Introducing Smith and Petras, Madonna asked the audience if they were “ready for a little controversy”. The duo then offered a fiery performance, with red lights, pyrotechnics and dancers in metal cages. Smith, for his part, donned a hat with devil horns.

Musk, CEO of Twitter, SpaceX and Tesla, responded to a clip of “Unholy” at the Grammys yesterday (February 7): “End of days vibes,” he tweeted.

Musk then responded to a Twitter user who said he thought the performance had “kind of a seedy vibe.” If it’s Satan, we have nothing to fear,” Musk wrote.

Smith’s appearance at the Grammys also caught the attention of conspiracy theorists, who believed the singer was “left by demons” at the event.

Republican Senator Ted Cruz, for his part, retweeted several tweets with hard-hitting quotes calling the performance satanic: “This is…evil,” commented in his retweet a post from conservative commentator Liz Wheeler.

During her introductory speech, Madonna said: “That’s what I’ve learned in four decades of music. If you’re called shocking, outrageous, embarrassing, provocative or dangerous, you’re definitely right.

“I’m here to say thank you to all the rebels who are charting a new course and bearing the consequences. All of you troublemakers need to know that your bravery does not go unnoticed. You are seen, heard, and above all, heard. appreciate you.”

Smith and Petras won the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Unholy” at the ceremony last weekend.

“Sam kindly wanted me to accept this award because I am the first transgender woman to win it,” Petras said. “I just want to say thank you to all of the amazing trans legends who have come before me and opened these doors for me to be here tonight.”

The German singer also paid tribute to her late friend SOPHIE, adding: “[Ella] He told me it would happen and he always believed in me. Thank you very much for your inspiration, Sophie. I adore you and your inspiration will always be in my music.”

Unholy” appears on Sam Smith’s fourth studio album, “Gloria”, which was released last month.

In other news, a co-founder of Twitter recently said he thinks Elon Musk “didn’t seem like” the right person to own the social media platform.
