LOS ANGELES (AP) — An American Airlines plane being towed on a taxiway collided with a shuttle at Los Angeles International Airport, injuring five people.

The Federal Aviation Administration said on Saturday it was investigating the Airbus A321 incident that occurred on Friday evening. He had no passengers.

The airport tweeted that the plane was being towed from a gate to a parking lot when it “made contact” with a shuttle carrying passengers between terminals.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said four people were taken to hospital after the “low-speed collision”, which happened around 10 p.m. The driver of the trailer towing the plane was in good health, and the health of the bus driver and the two passengers was good, the department added.

The only person on the plane, a worker, was treated but refused to be taken to hospital, according to firefighters.

Airport operations have not been interrupted, the airport authority said.

It was possible to see the imprint left by the plane’s tire when it skidded, and the bus’s windshield was badly damaged, according to ABC7.com.
