Metallica’s latest ‘Helping Hands’ benefit concert and auction raised $3m (£2.4m) for charity.

The show, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California on December 16. Metallica was joined on stage by special guest St. Vincent, and Greta Van Fleet also performed a set.

Additionally, leaders from six non-profit organizations took the stage that night. All proceeds from the concert went to Metallica’s All Within My Hands charity.

It has now been revealed that the third edition of ‘Helping Hands’ has raised approximately $3 million for the organization.

According to the charity’s official website, All Within My Hands “is dedicated to building sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, hunger relief and other essential local services” .

Peter Delgrosso, CEO of All Within My Hands, said, “Funds raised through the Helping Hands concert and auction will have a lasting impact on All Within My Hands’ ability to grow our Metallica Scholars initiative, fight hunger and to help in response to natural disasters. .

“The Los Angeles event was the biggest fundraiser in our history, and we deeply appreciate the generosity of everyone involved. We wouldn’t have achieved these results otherwise.”

As part of the Helping Hands concert and auction, All Within My Hands honored several mission-driven organizations and awarded grants to each to donate additional resources, including Baby2Baby, First Star, Feeding America, World Central Kitchen, mikeroweWorks Foundation and The Skatepark Project.

There were also the first donations generated by the 2021 Metallica tribute album, ‘The Metallica Blacklist’, which raised over $1million (£824,430).

All profits from the cover album are split equally between All Within My Hands and the charities chosen by the contributing artists, including the Happy Hippie Foundation (Miley Cyrus), RAINN (Phoebe Bridgers), Dhamma Mahavana (Weezer) and Outlaw. Chris Stapleton).

All Within My Hands was released in 2017 by members of Metallica and the band’s management team. In 2019, the band donated £40,000 to a homeless charity in Manchester through the non-profit organization ahead of their gig in the city.

The previous year, Lars Ulrich and company donated $100,000 (£82,439) to the foundation to help victims of the California wildfires.

Metallica will release their eleventh studio album “72 Seasons” on April 14. They will return to the UK in June to play two unique headliners at Download Festival 2023 alongside Bring Me The Horizon and Slipknot.
