Nintendo had a surprise for Mario Kart fans on Wednesday during its Nintendo Direct presentation, revealing that a new track and a familiar face are coming to Nintendo Switch. The Yoshi’s Island course and fan-favorite Birdo will arrive this spring in Wave 4 of Nintendo’s Booster Course Pass DLC.
Nintendo also promised that new characters from the Mario Kart series would be added in future waves of the Booster Courses Pass. Previously, Nintendo only committed to adding new tracks, 48 in total. The addition of Birdo and other runners makes the $24.99 Strengthening Class Pass price much more attractive.
Who will be the next one ? With a current roster of over 40 playable characters – not to mention plenty of multicolored Yoshis and Shy Guys – who’s left to join? Previous games, like and hint at a few contestants. Mobile gaming offers even more possibilities. After all, a good portion of the “new” courses that arrive as paid DLC come from.

Mario Kart 8’s best tricks
It has a whopping 220 playable characters, although many of them are variants. For example, in addition to the usual Mario, it has Mario Musician, Mario Santa Claus, Mario Constructor, Mario Chef, Mario Sol, Mario Halloween, Mario Golf and… many other Marios. But it also includes some drivers that are not available in (or any other Mario Kart game).

Paulina
Pauline, the mayor of New Donk City, is perhaps the most obvious choice for the future class of pilots of . Pauline made her Mario Kart debut in 2019, when she was added as a playable driver. The Mario Kart series has a high friend quotient and this chosen one really should be in the Switch port of it, considering he’s a figurehead of it as well.
Los Kong
He only has one Kong: Donkey. a (including a weird Donkey Kong Jr. pilot sprite from the Super NES). It’s not just disrespectful to Diddy Kong, who once starred in his own racing game, but also to Dixie and Funky, who bring much-needed levels of cuteness. What better way to brag about having a awesome new mode How about adding a few more fan-favorite Kongs?
Petey Piranha
If a generic Piranha plant can be, Petey can be in a main Mario Kart.
Captain Toad
It hurt me physically to wait for candidate #4 to talk about Captain Toad. The protagonist and telltale character of Mario Kart needs a lot more publicity, and what better way to bring him closer to the masses than through a conventional Mario Kart? And while we’re at it, let’s do the same and take Scout Toadette with him.
Monty Mole
Personally, I don’t much like Monty Mole, who’s a bit of an ass on the inside, but there’s something quite funny about a mole who can drive. Monty Mole made his Mario Kart debut in 2020, and I’d love to see him step into the big leagues. Can you even see the road?
hairy ones
he has several metallic Marios, but what he doesn’t have are the cat versions of Peach, Luigi, Toad, and Bowser (aka Meowser). is packed with furry pilot options, going all the way to Mario Tanooki Blanco, Luigi Kitsune, and Rosalina Tanooki. Liven things up, Nintendo! With more hair!
Kamek
Kamek will have a prominent role in April. I can only assume that when Kamek Mania takes the world by storm in April, it will grease the wheels for the appearance of the Magikoopa. It will start to make up for the fact that Kamek was taken off the roster over 25 years ago.
Chuck loaded
Does it have to be Chargin’ Chuck? No. Should this be your go-kart Combo Cruiser, consisting of a cheeseburger, fries and a medium drink? 1,000,000% yes. It’s not negotiable. But that includes Chuck. This is HIS signature car.
The fourth wave of the Booster Course Pass DLC will arrive this spring. Two other waves are planned until the end of 2023.
