The group recorded the tracks ‘2001’ and ‘Life Is Yours’ from the 2022 album ‘Life Is Yours’ and ‘Wash Off’ from 2019’s ‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost: Part 2’, as part of their Apple Music Session at home.

“The purpose of this session was to work with the London Contemporary Orchestra, of which we are huge fans,” explains singer/guitarist Yannis Philippakis. “They did amazing scores for Paul Thomas Anderson, they worked with Johnny Greenwood and they did all kinds of amazing orchestrations.

“We also worked with them on (the 2013 album) ‘Holy Fire’, and we hadn’t done that since, so it was kind of a reunion. He continues, “Wash Off has a lot of instruments, so it was just right and lyrically appropriate. We did it in a little studio called The Firepit. We had the opportunity to work with some amazing engineers and it was a joy to work with professional musicians in the band and to come up with new ideas as we walk through the room.

“We tried a few additional approaches and it was an experience of creative liberation. The past two years have taught me that I need music more than anything else. And that the power of live music, in particular, is something you should never take for It’s fundamental to being a human being.
