Enter Shikari has released “It Hurts”, the second single from his upcoming album “A Kiss For The Whole World”.
The Hertfordshire group’s latest cup is described as ‘a call to change our view of the world and reassess the way we judge ourselves’.
Vocalist/producer Rou Reynolds said: “‘It Hurts’ came to me in a dream. Literally. The melody, chords and a fully worded chorus were all part of a dream that thankfully was still with me when I woke up to him hiding under the duvet at 3 a.m., singing into my phone, much to my girlfriend’s dismay.
“The lyrics of It Hurts are about perseverance and the importance of seeing failure as a fruitful and, in fact, fundamental path to progress. Society teaches us that we must avoid and criticize failure, whereas in reality defeat and honest mistakes can give us insight that lights our way.
“In fact, they should teach us that trying is more than enough.”
It Hurts” follows the album’s first single, “(Pls) Set Me On Fire”, which was released last month.
A Kiss For The Whole World’ is out April 21 via SO Recordings/Ambush Reality (pre-order here).
Reynolds spoke to NME last month about his seventh album and debut single.
“It was kind of explosive,” Reynolds said of “(Pls) Set Me On Fire.” “This song encompasses the experience of the past few years. It’s the desire for transcendence, creativity and being able to connect with people.
“It’s got intensity. It’s got screaming verses. It’s one of the most agonizing songs we’ve done in a long time. It’s got that quirky Shikari feel.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the band’s residencies in five UK cities have been confirmed: London, Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow and Wolverhampton.
