Ashton Kutcher has explained why he looked so “uncomfortable” in recent red carpet photos with Reese Witherspoon.
Photos of the couple, co-stars in Netflix’s new romantic comedy Your Place or Mine, went viral earlier this week after many fans commented that they looked uncomfortable standing in the one next to the other.
Black Swan actress Mila Kunis, who has been married to Kutcher since 2016, thought so too and couldn’t help but mention it to the couple.
In an interview with US broadcaster Today, Witherspoon said Kunis sent them a group email after seeing the footage on the internet.
“He said to me, ‘You look so awkward together on the red carpet,'” Witherspoon revealed.
In another interview with the Chicks in the Office podcast, Kutcher revealed that Kunis alerted him that the images had become “memes” on social media.
“My wife called me,” he said. “He texted me and Reese and was like, ‘You have to… act like you love each other.'”
Explaining why he seemed so uncomfortable, he said: “The problem is this: if I hugged her and was friendly towards her, I would have an affair with her. Rumor has it that I have an affair with her.
“If I stand next to him and put my hands in my pockets so there’s no way it’s the rumor, then the rumor is that we don’t like each other.”
Kutcher also said he was made uncomfortable by members of the press who called him by name and took pictures.
“I don’t know who’s calling me, but I know there’s a lot of people yelling, ‘Reese! Ashton! Here !”
And he added: “If you’re going to tell me that in this whole 20 minute period, at some point, you’re not going to look uncomfortable, then you’re better than me and that’s me. goes.”
Last year, Kutcher revealed he had been diagnosed with vasculitis, a rare autoimmune disease that affects a person’s ability to see, hear and walk. The actor continues to claim that he has hearing problems in one ear.
