They executed Sergio Carmona Angulo, alleged financial operator of Morena in Tamaulipas

This Monday afternoon the execution of Sergio Carmona Angulo took place in Nuevo León, businessman and presumed financial operator of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) in Tamaulipas.

According to the reports, the incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. in the Del Valle neighborhood, located in the municipality of San Pedro Garza García. The subject was inside a barber shop when several shots were heard from outside. At least two bullet wounds were detected in Carmona Angulo’s head.

Moments later the call was made to the emergency number (911) and to the place, located between Río Manzanares and Río Rosas streets, elements of the State Investigation Agency (AEI) arrived to carry out the legal procedures. In addition, the Code Red was activated to begin the search for the person (s) responsible.

Municipal and state authorities began with the investigations to find the motive for this murder, which could be related to the financial activities that Sergio Carmona Angulo allegedly carried out for Morena.

The businessman was murdered while he was in a barber shop in Nuevo León.

According to various journalistic reports and local media in Tamaulipas, Carmona Angulo was a partner in companies such as Grupo Industrial Permart, Grupo Industrial Joser and Reymar Consulting, same that, some documents of the Tax Administration System (SAT) presented tax losses throughout 2020.

However, they also had millionaire expenses, as reported by the 24 Hours media.

His economic power allowed him to interact with politicians from Morena, such as the mayor of Ciudad Victoria, Eduardo Gattas, with whom he maintained a close relationship long before the elections were held on June 6.

Gattas, like the federal deputy Erasmo González, were caught using luxury trucks with a value of approximately one million pesos.

When they were questioned in this regard, they assured that they were not their property, since they were part of the patrimony of the company Grupo Industrial Permart SA de CV, which is owned by Carmona Angulo.

Sergio Carmona Angulo was related to an illegal fuel trafficking network.

In addition, several investigations revealed that it was related to the illegal extraction and sale of fuel in the state, an activity known as Huachicol. For this reason he was baptized with the nickname “El Rey del Huachicol”.

Along with his brother César, he was linked to the smuggling of hydrocarbons through a brand of vegetable oil. They were also singled out for being the responsible for giving way to bales of clothes, which were only declared by 10 or 20%, in addition to supposedly also traffic in equipment and medical supplies.

It should be noted that since June 2, the United States Department of Justice reported a investigation carried out by the Texas Attorney General’s Office against a fuel trafficking network related to the Carmona Angulo brothers.

According to the reports, they allegedly handed over to the then General Administrator of Customs, Ricardo Peralta Saucedo, about USD 2 million to allow them to operate from Reynosa.

Likewise, since 2018 they were denounced by members of Morena due to the alleged financing of various political campaigns since that year, such as that of federal deputy Erasmo González Robledo, who currently chairs the Budget Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and invited Carmona Angulo to his second activity report in 2020, an event in which he was seated in the front row.
