Two dead and several injured when a crane collapsed in Turin

Two people died and others were injured when a crane collapsed this morning on a building in the Italian city of Turin (northwest), where firefighters are still trying to remove some workers trapped under the structure.

The crane, used in a construction on the Genoa route in Turin, collapsed on a seven-story building, just at the moment when three employees were on it.

The firefighters confirmed that the three workers had been trapped under the metallic structure of the crane and that for the moment they are continuing the work to extract them.

Local media report that two of them have died, while the third is in serious condition and has already been transferred to the hospital.

The collapse of the crane has caused injuries of varying degrees in some pedestrians.

According to a first reconstruction of the events, the incident occurred during the assembly operations of two construction cranes.
