Meta’s Threads application is undoubtedly one of the biggest movements on the Internet today, and it is only necessary to mention the fact that in its first 5 days after its launch, the app got up to 100 million active registered users, a complete madness.

And since it is clearly considered as Twitter’s competitor, of course it is normal that users also decide to jump on the Threads bandwagon. However, if you are thinking of starting to use this social network, there are a few things you should keep in mind, so pay attention that now we will be talking about up to 4 things you need to know.

Your Threads account and Instagram account will be linked

Being an app that has been developed and created by Meta (Instagram’s parent company), Threads is a kind of extension of the Instagram platform. However, here is the negative point, since it will not be possible to delete your Threads account separately, meaning that if you do so, you will also be deleting your Instagram account.

While this has not caught the attention of users at all, Threads has already communicated that it is looking for a way to delete the accounts separately, in case anyone wants to do so. This is certainly a big deal, not to mention that it would surely also appeal to users who don’t have an Instagram account.

You will be granting Meta a license to use your content.

This is a pretty relevant point to mention, and that is that as Meta states in their Terms of Use, if you upload or share Threads Content, you will be granting them a license to basically sublicense and use your content on the platform. In fact, the aforementioned Terms of Use state the following:

“If you upload or share Threads Content, you hereby grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, royalty-free, transferable, ble and worldwide sublicense to host, use, distribute, modify, reproduce, copy, publicly display or communicate and translate your Threads Content, as well as to create derivative works from it (in accordance with the Threads Privacy Policy and the Threads Supplemental Privacy Policy)”.

Meta will be sharing your data with other services

Closely related to the previous point, Meta likewise shares your data among the company’s other services in addition to doing so with third parties, although that yes, they assure that the data will be used specifically for the optimization of the platform, in addition to advertising of course.

“We use the information we collect in connection with Threads for the purposes described in Meta’s Privacy Policy, including to provide, personalize and improve Threads and other Meta Products (e.g., to provide you with a seamless personalized experience between Threads and Instagram); to provide measurement and analytics and other services for businesses (including ads); to promote safety, security and integrity; to communicate with you; and to conduct research and develop innovations for social good.”

Threads still has some polishing to do

Although Threads already has more than 100 million active users and is undoubtedly the social network of the moment, the platform is still in its early stages of development, so a world of fixes and updates is still to come.

Undoubtedly there is an interesting work that is being carried out with Threads, but as we said, it is a social network that is literally advancing day by day and the final result will surely be as we expect.
