With nearly $800 million in box office receipts worldwide, it has become clear that The Batman sooner or later there would be a sequel. Just a few months after its release, Warner Bros and DC They confirmed it during the CinemaCon celebration and yet the project has been hanging by a thread lately.

However, it seems that the green light has finally arrived for the premiere of this feature film in which Robert Pattinson will get back into the shoes of Bruce Wayne. The company’s future launch schedule has already set a date for Batman 2: October 3, 2025.

A date which seems very distant but which is not, especially taking into account that the task of pre-production, filming and post-production will occupy a good part of this time until coming to the big screen. Moreover, it should be noted that HBO will present during this period the spin-off on The Penguin with Colin Farrell.

Many doubts remain around this sequel since for the moment, apart from its great protagonist, the returns of characters such as the Joker, Alfred (Andy Serkis) or Catwoman (Zöe Kravitz) have not been confirmed. Also, will the sequel include other characters from the Batman movie universe like Robin, Batgirl…?

According to the producer, the person in charge of bringing to the big screen the second part of this new saga on the figure of Bruce Wayne will be director Matt Reeves who will be behind the camera again. Toby Emmerich, chairman of Warner Bros, was brutally honest in confirming the news that had been rumored for the past few weeks.

Because it could have been romantic, whimsical or idyllic, but it preferred to be practical and honest: “One film that definitely hit a sweet spot this year is Matt Reeves’ The Batman. It took one of our super -the most iconic and beloved heroes and gave it’s a new vision that clearly resonated with audiences and with their incredible support, broke box office records around the world, which is one which is why I’m thrilled to break the news that Matt, Rob Pattinson and the entire team will be bringing audiences to Gotham with The Batman 2.”

With fans pretty pissed off at the film’s non-inclusion among the major 2023 Oscar nominations (it’s got 3 for makeup, sound and visual effects) due to ship in just a month, The Batman 2 has it all. even a very high rating. bar to overcome and continue to promote superhero cinema. And villains because many have already named Barry Keoghan’s Joker, who we saw in deleted scenes, as the best Joker in history, only behind the late Heath Ledger.
