Ubisoft has announced that the next season of The Division 2 has been delayed, due to an issue that prevents the developer from releasing server-side or client-side updates.

In one statement issued yesterday (February 9), Ubisoft announced that while trying to fix a localization issue that delayed Season 11, it unwittingly encountered another bug that blocked the game’s build generation system.

“As a result, we cannot update the game until this system has been rebuilt,” Ubisoft explained.

“In the past, when a season was delayed, we expanded the previous season’s activities,” Ubisoft explained. “Unfortunately, this is not possible in the current situation, as we cannot perform server-side or client-side updates until the build generation is reset.”

While Ubisoft was able to “restore critical aspects of the system” over the past four days, The Division 2 is currently down for unscheduled maintenance for approximately three hours, suggesting the issue may have been resolved. .

The patch notes for the update do not reference The Division 2 build generation issue, but instead list a number of fixes to improve game stability.

“We deeply appreciate your understanding and patience and will share details of our in-game compensation plan shortly,” the studio said, adding that it will post another update on the situation today (February 10).

This isn’t the first time Ubisoft has caused problems with its own games. Earlier this month, it was reported that Ubisoft had discontinued Steam Deck support for several of its games – including The Division 2 – by releasing an update to its third-party launcher.

In other gaming news, Ubisoft has announced that it will be working with Northumbria Police to tackle “extreme cases” of toxicity in games.
