TEL AVIV, Israel — Tens of thousands of Israelis took to the streets in cities across the country on Saturday to protest the Benjamin Netanyahu government’s judicial reform plans.

Critics say the measures planned by the new Conservative government would weaken the Supreme Court, limit judicial review and give more power to politicians. Protesters claimed it would undermine democracy.

Divisions over the power of the courts grew as the government prepared to table part of the rules in parliament on Monday, amid calls for partial strikes by businesses and professional groups.

For the sixth week in a row, protesters continued with large marches, the main one in the central city of Tel Aviv and smaller ones in several towns.
