The game was originally slated for release in late 2021, but was again delayed to 2022 due to “recent world events” which likely refer to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Advanced Wars was a series of turn-based strategy games developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance. The reveal of a remake of both games came during Nintendo’s E3 presentation in June 2021, where the games would have been “reimagined and rebuilt from the ground up” for the Switch.
The collection consists of Advanced Wars there Advance Wars 2: Rise of the Black Hole, where players control the Orange Star Army and command individual troop units with different abilities and specialties. The game also features a versus mode for up to four players with dozens of maps.
The new campaigns will include a map creator and online multiplayer.
The last Advance Wars game was released in 2008 with the Nintendo DS game Days Of Ruin.
