A study showed which anime were the most pirated in the USA in 2022, which is one of the largest markets in the world

Hacking and anime are two concepts that go hand in hand. In the end, for many years, until the streaming platforms really started to give visibility to this content in the West, the truth is that in the vast majority of cases the only way to watch anime was bypassing all legalities. Fortunately, this situation has changed a lot nowadays.with services like Crunchyroll, Netflix, Prime Video and more, but always piracy is still VERY present in the sector.

Despite the criticism, many continued to watch Chainsaw Man…even though it was illegal

A study in the USA reveals the most pirated anime of 2022

Now a new study has shown which animes were the most pirated in the US in the last 2022and given the volume of population of the territory, it is quite certain that the data can also be extrapolated globally. Keep in mind that the study really does show total serial piracy, but I’m just taking the anime data (via ANN):

  1. Chainsaw Man – 13% of total serial piracy in the USA.
  2. Bleach: TYBW Part 1 – 9% of total serial piracy in the USA.
  3. Spy x Family – 7% of total serial piracy in the USA.
  4. The Rise of the Shield Hero (Temporada 2) – 6% of total serial piracy in the USA.

What is certain is that The data for “Chainsaw Man” is quite impressive, basically because in the United States, only “The House of the Dragon” was more pirated content than the anime in question.. The truth is that I can personally relate to piracy in cases like the new “Bleach” anime, because for those who don’t know, in territories like Spain it’s still not legally available. Completely ridiculous.

Honestly it’s done It’s hard to imagine the hack going to end at some point, basically because anime like “Chainsaw Man”, “Spy x Family”, and “The Rising of the Shield Hero” were all on Crunchyroll and still have a very high pirate rate.. On the other hand, if we also take into account pitches as bad as the one Disney+ made at the time or decisions by Netflix such as blocking password exchanges, there is no doubt that those who are not going to convince them to live comfortably with hacking as their first option.
