Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has revealed the “great lengths” he went to surprise Adele at the Grammys.
At the ceremony, held Monday, Feb. 6, at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles, the actor was introduced by host Trevor Noah. Johnson’s appearance at the event had been kept under wraps, and it came as a particular surprise to Adele, whom the actor then greeted.
After being introduced by Noah, Johnson went to Adele’s front row. They both kissed and exchanged a few words. The London singer was thrilled to meet the former WWE Superstar and couldn’t help but smile. Johnson later revealed that it was imperative for him that Adele be “genuinely shocked”.

Adele admits to being a fan of Johnson since her time in WWE, which has been known for years. Johnson also admitted to being a “huge” admirer of Adele. The couple had previously tried to meet, but work disputes prevented it.
Johnson admitted that when he realized he could attend this year’s Grammys with his wife, singer-songwriter Lauren Hashian, he wanted to work with the show’s producers to create a surprise for Adele .
“We wanted to do something special for Adele,” Johnson told Variety, “I know she’s a big fan of mine and she’s said that publicly many times. But I have to tell you, I’m also a huge fan of hers: her music, her background, her candor and her candor when it comes to speaking. I’ve always admired that about her.
He added, “We were trying to come up with something fun and surprise her, and we’d been thinking all week. The key to a surprise like this is to keep it a surprise. The Grammys and I did all we could to do Adele, she was really surprised at the time, and she was.”

Later, in an Instagram post, Johnson said being able to announce Adele’s victory was a “beautiful full-loop moment.” The Hobbs & Shaw star’s comments come after Adele and compatriot Harry Styles scooped two major awards at the ceremony.
