Like every year, the Film Academy faces a difficult moment when it must opt for a single winner per category at the Goyas, and this 2023 was not going to be less. It was a year full of spectacular productions and that made this ceremony full of emotion. Even more after a year 2022 marked by films like The beasts oh Model 77 with which it has been shown that Spanish cinema is capable of taking on any genre and telling great stories.
The gala was marked from the start by a tribute to Carlos Saura, who died a day before receiving his well-deserved Goya de Honor. After much applause from the audience, the family took the reins to say a few words and thank them for this recognition. After that, Natalia Lafurcade took charge of kicking off the gala with a version of Why are you leaving by Jeanette.
