Marqués, 22, arrived in Tokyo with the third best mark of the year in this distance. In the swimming pool of the Aquatic Center of the Japanese city, she also agreed with the third best time in the series (2: 38.79) and in the final she lowered that mark to stop the clock at 2: 35.66.

Gold went to New Zealander Sophie Pascoe and silver to Hungarian Zsofia Konkoly.

Marqués, who was born with the femur of the left leg shorter than the one on the right, achieves with this medal her fourth medal in some Games after the two in Rio and the two that he has in Tokyo.

In the same race, Sarai Gascón, also from Barcelona, ​​finished fourth, two seconds behind Nuria and takes a diploma in this modality.
