The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has announced this thursday what A new public special education center in Torrejón de Ardoz will be named after former soccer player Iker Casillas.

Ayuso announced it in the plenary session of the Madrid Assembly, responding to a question from the popular spokesman, Alfonso Serrano, on the challenges of the Madrid Government for 2021.

Among them, Ayuso has mentioned this new center, of which construction works were already awarded yesterday for 3.6 million euros, and that according to the forecasts of the regional Executive could be completed throughout 2022.

100 places for students with special educational needs

The center will offer 100 public places for students with special educational needs between 3 and 21 years old and it will have three classrooms for Early Childhood Education, ten for Compulsory Basic Education, three for Transition to Adult Life and four specific ones for psychomotor skills, music, home and computers.

It will also have two physiotherapy rooms, library, gym and nursing room, informs the Government of the Community of Madrid in a statement.

The Torrejón public center for Special Education has been for several years a vindication of the families of the municipality with children with special educational needs, who until now have been forced to study in centers in other localities like Alcalá de Henares or Coslada.
