Vladimir Putin, in isolation after several people in his inner circle tested positive for covid-19

Russian President Vladimir Putin is in isolation after several people in his circle tested positive for COVID-19, the Kremlin said on Tuesday.

Putin, who is vaccinated, tested negative and is healthy, he added.

The president has recognized the existence of “identified cases of coronavirus in his environment,” according to the statement.

Putin acknowledged the situation in a call Tuesday with his counterpart from the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, adding that as a consequence, he would have to isolate himself for “a certain period of time”.

The statement said Putin’s scheduled appointments for the current week will be attended via videoconference.
