Left in the dark, that’s how they were, all four kittens in a drainpipe of the mayor’s office Gustavo A. Madero, but thanks to the intervention of police officers from the Animal Surveillance Brigade (BVA), the newborns could be sheltered and cuddled.

A neighbor of the San Felipe de Jesús neighborhood asked for help to officials of the Capital Security Secretariat (SSC), since he heard meows in one of the water logs. The kittens were at the bottom of that drain on Tepatitlán Avenue, fearful during the night of this Holy Thursday.

Upon arrival, BVA uniforms had to maneuver very carefully, because any wrong move could cause a tragedy, since they had to remove the lid from the strainer. In the background, the screams continued.

After removing the heavy metal cover and with corresponding tactics, there were the little cats, already within reach for their safeguarding. It was like this- Three kittens with tabby fur and one more gray were extracted.

It is calculated that they are at least a month old and it is unknown how they got to that cold and dark place, but as soon as they were rescued, the officers transferred the animals to the BVA facilities, in the Xochimilco mayor’s office.

In this last site were assessed and cared for by SSC veterinarians to rule out any health or injury risk. According to the statement, officers take care of feeding and cuddling the kittens until they are found a home through the adoption program institutional.
