The new phase of the anticovid vaccination campaign with AstraZeneca begins tomorrow in Sicily, which will affect the world of schools and universities, the armed and police forces, and the personnel of “essential services” .

The third vaccine is authorized, at the moment, only for the target of citizens between 18 and 55 years, a circumstance that has led the central government to anticipate some vaccine categories.

In Sicily the first doses will be inoculated in Palermo , Catania , Messina , Enna , Trapani , Ragusa and Syracuse, to continue, starting from Wednesday, in the remaining provinces. In addition to the health and administrative staff of the regional health system, the police doctors will be involved who will carry out the inoculations also at their own facilities.

“I would like to thank the prefectures of the island and the regional school office – says the president Nello Musumeci – because in these days they are actively collaborating to define the lists of those entitled to vaccination. We always run against the clock, but we cannot help but ask all citizens to join the vaccination campaign with the same enthusiasm that involved over 90 per cent of doctors and nurses ”.

According to the President of the Region, “the words with which President Draghi placed vaccines at the top of national priorities go in the right direction. We need more vaccines and I am sure that everything is being done to increase production and deliveries. We need it – Musumeci pointed out – because there are fragile subjects, such as very serious disabled people, who must be protected as soon as possible ”.

“In this sense, I invite Minister Stefani, to whom I extend my best wishes for the importance of the mission entrusted to her, and Minister Speranza to evaluate a vaccination plan aimed at people with disabilities”.
