The new Prime Minister of Italy, Mario Draghi, has pledged to make his government oriented to the protection of the environment, according to sources attending his first council of ministers, this Sunday, after officially receiving the baton the day before from the country.

“Ours will be a government for the protection of the climate,” according to sources in the newspapers ‘La Repubblica’ and ‘Corriere della Sera’.

Both newspapers comment in this regard that these statements by Draghi are a nod to the European Union, which has asked the country for certain environmental reforms in exchange for economic aid against the coronavirus.

Precisely the previous government of Giuseppe Conte ended up collapsing due to the inability of the coalition to determine the use of European aid funds.
