The police captured this Saturday, in the city of Curitiba, the alleged serial killer accused of killing three young homosexuals in the south of Brazil, after having contacted them on virtual dating platforms.
The suspect, identified as José Tiago Correia Soroka, 33 years old and who had been wanted by the authorities since the beginning of May, was detained in a pension in the Capao Raso neighborhood, in the capital of Paraná.
According to the Paraná police, the suspect was arrested around 07:30 local time, after receiving information about his whereabouts the day before.
Soroka Strap is accused of killing three young homosexuals and of trying to murder a fourth victim, who was saved from dying and was the one who reported him to the authorities.
According to authorities, the suspect committed the crimes weekly for a month. The first three murders occurred between April 16 and May 4 in the city of Curitiba, and a week later the attempted murder took place in a municipality of Santa Catarina.
Investigations indicated that all victims met with the suspect in their own homes, after making contact on virtual dating platforms.
The “modus operandi” of the alleged murderer consisted of catching his victims off guard, suffocating them with a pillow or a quilt, and then leaving the place with one or two of their belongings.
