A group of protesters attacked with stones the truck in which the president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, and his entourage was traveling in the town of Lago Puelo, Chubut province, in the south of the country, as part of the journey that the President performs this Saturday to monitor the situation due to the serious fires that affect the area.

According to the official Télam agency, when leaving a cultural center, a group of protesters against mining projects in the area threw stones and broke two of the vehicle’s rear windows.

In communication with the C5N channel, the Minister of Territorial Development and Habitat, Jorge Ferraresi, who accompanied the president on that visit, confirmed that there were no injuries among the presidential entourage and minimized what happened.

The events were quickly condemned by various figures from across the political spectrum, including former President Mauricio Macri and the Head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, both opponents of the national government, who repudiated the acts of violence.
