Rates for Taxis, Parking Meters and VTV will rise in the city of Buenos Aires

The Buenos Aires rates for taxis, VTV and parking meters will register increases, that in some cases will reach 100% during February, after public hearings are held next week to move forward with those adjustments.

The increases will be well above the inflation reported by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec), which was 36.1% in 2020.

In the case of taxis – one of the services that increased the most in the last decade – the increase is expected to be 44% in two sections: February and April.

The parking meters will also have an update, which will go from $ 15 to $ 30, in a scenario in which the Buenos Aires government argued that it is out of date compared to other cities, where it already exceeds $ 33.

This increase is a consequence of the adjustment in the Fixed Unit that regulates the value that must be applied in an infringement and must be updated every six months, according to Law 451.

Article 20 of Law 451 establishes that “each Fixed Unit will have a value equivalent to half a liter of higher octane gasoline reported by the Automobile Club Argentino headquarters and will be established for six-monthly periods.”
