No surprise, by the end of September, an iPhone 14 will be released. Like every year, many Apple fans are waiting for the brand at the turn, determined to change their smartphone in 2022. Good news, we already have a lot of indications on what the iPhone 14 will have in store for us.
Design of the iPhone 14: the notch will finally disappear on the Pro models
As every year, it is towards the end of March that the final designs of the new iPhones are validated. Many analysts and leakers who have largely proven themselves in the past are therefore beginning to reveal to the general public what is going on in Apple’s factories.
The different sources intersect and we can draw conclusions with a relatively high degree of certainty. The first major design point that will please many people is the disappearance of the notch, the famous “notch” so characteristic of Apple smartphones since the iPhone X.
Do not get too excited, a priori, only the Pro models see their notch disappear. Against what? A Face ID under the screen? Apple does not yet seem capable of such technological prowess. No, instead of the notch, we will be entitled to two small punches side by side. One oblong and one round.
Apart from this major change, there should be no revolution. The flat edges remain there, the glass back too, the only other change compared to last year concerns the size of the photo sensors which will be very slightly thicker (we explain why just below). On a day-to-day basis, it shouldn’t even be noticeable.
Since these rumors are becoming more and more solid as the days go by, some 3D artists have had fun producing fake presentation videos of the iPhone 14 Pro. Here are our two really stunning favourites.
At launch, the various specialists speak of 4 different iPhone 14 models. The iPhone 14 Pro, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the iPhone 14 for short, and finally an iPhone 14 Max. We may be heading towards the final end of small-sized models for a highlighting of more massive screens.
Technical changes between iPhone 13 and iPhone 14
In theory, Apple engineers have not definitively decided on the technical data sheets for the next iPhone 14. Nevertheless, here again certain rumors are too persistent to be completely ignored.
For example, many people talk about the fact that only Pro models will be entitled to a new chip, surely called A16 (in addition to the end of the notch therefore). The iPhone 14s would stay on the A15 Bionic chip, already one of the most powerful in the industry.
We were talking earlier about a thicker photo module. It should also be a bit wider. Why ? Because, for the first time since the iPhone 6S, Apple will increase the number of megapixels of its devices from 12 Mp to 48 Mp.
Wider lenses obviously allow more light to be absorbed. If we combine that with the potential arrival of the pixel binning (a technology that “merges” several pixels into a single larger one, therefore less likely to generate noise), we should be entitled to wonderful night shots.
For now, that’s about all we know. Information on the screen, materials, colors or battery does not seem reliable enough to be shared. But hey, the iPhone 13 Pro Max already have a redesigned screen, a crazy battery life and premium materials, we don’t worry too much about that.
