Adam Mosseri announces that the ability to download Reels is now available globally.

Since their arrival, Reels have become a fundamental part of Instagram. And the future of social networks lies in this type of videos, and if not, just tell it to TikTok. Recently, it has been announced that the possibility of downloading Instagram Reels from any public account is now available globally.

Instagram allows to download Reels from public accounts

TikTok has managed to unseat Instagram as the most used social network and the photo social network knows it and wants to improve its Reels to be able to compete against TikTok’s short videos. That is why its CEO, Adam Mosseri, has announced through its Instagram communications channel, that it is now possible to download Reels from public accounts.

A few weeks ago, it was announced that this possibility was a reality, but only for users in the United States. The difference with the last announcement, is that now this novelty is available globally for all users. In other words, it is not exclusive to U.S. users.

The possibility of downloading Reels from other accounts is only available for public accounts, which can configure through the settings, the prohibition of not being able to download their Reels if they prefer, so in those cases, the possibility of downloading these short videos will not be available.

How to download Reels on Instagram

Now that this possibility is available globally, the only thing you have to do to download a Reel published by a public account is to click on the Share button and then select the Download option to save it in the Photos app and share it with whomever you want.

Also, as it happens when you download a video from TikTok, in the downloaded Reels will appear a watermark showing the user name of the creator in order to avoid plagiarism and such practices that we are seeing lately.
