Canada is the only team in group F that failed to score points in the first two days
In two of the 15 participations that the Canadian team has had in the history of the World Cup, the reds have finally managed to score their first goal.
Although they achieved it in a match in which they were eliminated from the group stage with a final score of 4-1 against Croatia, they were able to make history with their first goal cry.
One minute and seven seconds reflected the score in the Canada vs. Croatia match when the Bayern Munich defender, Alphonso Davies, detected a precious cross from his teammate Tajon Buchanan (Club Bruges) who did not hesitate to finish off with his head to put up your team early.
The first and only time that Canada qualified for a World Cup before Qatar was in Mexico in 1986. In that edition they left with zero goals for and five against.
However, that cry that took 36 years to suppress was finally able to happen and at least in statistics, Canada has been better than in its previous presentation.
Croatia’s goals
A fine performance from Andrej Kramarić helped Croatia overcome a setback on minute two. The Hoffenheim striker scored at 36′ and 70′, but before sealing the double, Livaja made it 2-1 at 44′. The match was closed by Lovro Majer at 90+4.
The closing of Canada in the group stage will be on Saturday, December 1 against Morocco.
