This Friday the billionaire tweeted his intention to get rid of accounts that have no activity, to free up usernames for current users.

This measure responds to Twitter users who complain that inactive accounts have unusual identifiers and some very desirable ones that were registered since the beginning of the social network.

One of the reasons Musk had refused to buy Twitter was the number of fake accounts that make up the platform’s total. So when he arrived at the address, the South African-American promised to eliminate inactive accounts, some created 15 years ago.

The new CEO also commented that he would add a feature to the tool so that users can see the number of people who read or interact with their tweets while on Twitter.

“Tweets will show view counts in a few weeks, just like videos. Twitter is much more alive than people think,” Musk said.

Until now, it is not known how long is enough to consider that an account is abandoned on Twitter, so it is recommended that users interested in keeping them log in so as not to lose them.

This activity adds to the long list of tasks that Musk has to leave the platform to his complete satisfaction, while he fights to bring advertisers back and attends to lawsuits originating from his massive layoffs, among many other pending.

In the second quarter of 2022, Twitter reported 237.8 million monetizable daily active users and we will have to be aware of how the numbers move because since Musk arrived at the address, the #TwitterMigration, which invites users to move to other networks social, he has done his thing.
