Scott shared the news via her personal blog on Medium, in which she explained that both she and Dan Jewett, her current husband, believe it would be better if disproportionate wealth was not concentrated in a small number of hands.

MacKenzie and her husband spent several months identifying and evaluating the organizations that will benefit from their donations.

“Because community-centered service is such a powerful catalyst and multiplier, we spent the first quarter of 2021 identifying and evaluating equity-oriented nonprofits working in areas that have been neglected, ” he wrote.

According to Scott, donations will go to 286 high-impact organizations in categories and communities that have historically been underfunded and ignored .

Some of these organizations are the University of Central Florida , University of Illinois Chicago, African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund, Asian American Federation, Hispanic Ballet, Harlem Dance Theater, Atlanta Metropolitan Endowment for the Arts, and National Arts Association. and Latino Cultures.
