He United States Department of Defense increased surveillance of its airspace since the detection of the Chinese spy balloon, which explains why other objects were identified last week.

So far, the agency has not confirmed whether the three artifacts shot in the last three days in the United States and Canada They are also Chinese, just like the spy balloon shot down on the 4th.

During an appearance on the telephone press, the United States Under Secretary of Defense and Homeland Affairs, Melissa Daltonexplained that the aircraft shot down this afternoon over Lake Huron, Michigan, along with the two previous ones in Canada and in Alaskawere killed “as a precaution”, and stressed that “there was no collateral damage in any of the operations last week”.

As explained by Dalton and the leader of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (Norad, in English), general Glen Van Hercksome of the remains of the object shot down this Sunday in Michigan may have fallen into Canadian waters from the lake huronand they are in constant contact with the government of this country, both for demolition operations and for the collection of remains.

Since the Chinese spy balloon was located and shot down a few days later, the US Department of Defense has increased surveillance of its airspace, which “partly” explains the increase in objects detected in recent days, said Dalton.

The Undersecretary acknowledged that it is possible that there are many objects flying over the country whose purpose is not harmful, as they may be artifacts for “legitimate research”, but since none of those killed in these days could be identified, the President decided to demolish them “as a precaution”.

The United States continues to refer to these artifacts as “objects”, without going into the details of their description, and General Van Herck stated that for this reason he does not classify them as balloons, whereas the one that was shot down on February 4 was “clearly” a balloon.

He admitted that It may be artifacts “with some kind of balloon inside” although they can also be moved by a propulsion system. He insisted in any case on the fact that they were going to analyze the remains to be able to give more information on this subject.

Norad chief insisted there was no ‘hostile’ act by these devices, but if an unidentified object enters US or Canadian airspace they will still try to identify it and find out if it is a threat.

In this case, the governments of Canada and the United States are discussing and assessing whether this may pose a risk to their security national, for example if it flies over defense sensitive areas such as missile silo fields, if it may affect the safety of civil aviation or if it may pose a risk to people on the ground.

And if any of these cases occur, you must act as has been done these days, VanHerck stressed.

In the case of the object shot down this Sunday, the Pentagon coordinated with the Federal Civil Aviation Administration (FAA) to close the airspace in the area where he was.

The Norad official explained that he had ordered the pilots “to use their visual acuity”, to ensure that the space was clear of planes and that there was no damage on the ground, and to minimize possible collateral damage and when they felt comfortable firing or made, using a 9x missile, the “best weapon” for the occasion.

The aircraft shot down while flying over Lake Huron was the third “object” neutralized in the last three days in North America, following the downing Friday over Alaska and Saturday in Canada, and comes eight days after the downing of the alleged Chinese spiny balloon that flew over the country for several days until it be shot in Atlantic waters.

As the Ministry of Defense explains in a press release, on the orders of President Joe Biden, at 2:42 p.m. (local time) an Air Force F-16 shot down this new aircraft which was 20,000 feet, or just over 6,000 meters above sea level.
