The Mexican government, led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), will donate six million dollars (mdd) to Syria to extend its support for the devastation caused by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that recently struck that country.

This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ERS), Marcelo Ebrard Casaubbonwho announced that the said donation will be made through the United Nations (HIM).

“The president asked us that regarding support for Syria, contacts be established with the UN, which was done, and he arranged for Mexico to donate $6 million. “, did he declare.

The money will be delivered as soon as the bank account is provided, information that will be transmitted by one of the United Nations offices in charge of humanitarian affairs, as explained by the Minister of Foreign Affairs during the morning press conference of February 13.

Mexico, for example, sent Turkey personnel from the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), the Mexican Red Cross and Civil Protection, who are currently carrying out search and rescue work in that country.

The team includes medical and food service cells, 35 search and rescue experts from the Immediate Emergency and Disaster Response Team (ERIED), as well as 25 specialists and 10 pairs of combat dogs from the Mexican army, 37 elements of the navy – which includes 2 pairs: 15 members of the Red Cross and finally 5 heads of the SRE.
