During the possession of the Colombian ambassadors abroad, the president Gustavo Petro compared the Colombian state to Nazi Germany.

The above happened when the high president referred to the decision of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) regarding the extermination of the Patriotic Union in Colombia.

The President of the Republic recalled that with this, the The Colombian state is genocidal.

“Now that the judgment on the Patriotic Union has just come out, we don’t know what is worse, because the judgment on the Patriotic Union, no more and no less, says that the Colombian State is not only murderous, but genocidal. Our State, in contemporary times, is genocidal”, said Gustavo Petro before making the comparison with Nazi Germany.

He helped kill thousands of Colombians just because he was leftist. Even today, we go to any corner, to any city in Colombia, and they say that I am on the left and we start to feel in danger”, added the president in his speech.

Later, he referred to Nazi Germany in World War II. In this regard, he indicated that given the fact that it was also a genocidal state, there are no differences between it and the Colombian state.

“It’s the legacy of a genocidal state in the culture of a society, the same would have happened with the Germans, Nazi Germany had a genocidal state. There is no difference between the Colombian state and the Nazi state from this point of view. Genocide. But there are other differences. The Germans made catharsis, the Germans knew that their societies and their generations now could not repeat what they did. In Colombia this has not happened,” President Petro said.
