The national government analyzes the expiry of the service concession of the electricity distribution company Edesur due to the lack of supply of thousands of customers (Adrián Escandar)

A heat wave with a maximum above 38 degrees and a faulty electrical system proved to be a combo that affected hundreds of users in the city of Buenos Aires and the suburbs of Buenos Aires who spent the last few days without electricity in their homes. Faced with this situation, the Secretary of Energy, Flavia Royonpointed against Edesur and warned to withdraw the concession.

Through her social networks, the head of the national government denounced: “We have information that hundreds of families have been without electricity for days. They have one thing in common, they are all Edesur customers”.

In this context, he announced that he was charging the National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE) “so that it initiates the corresponding administrative actions to resolve immediately, and definitively, this type of situation which is repeated year after year.”

“Our pulse will not tremble if this means having to terminate the concession contract for the electricity distribution service handled by the Edesur company”Royon warned.

“The ENRE will immediately instruct to reinforce the crews to restore service and will begin the audit of compliance with the summer plan presented”, closed the Energy Secretary in the thread of tweets that she published this Sunday. .

Following Royon’s announcement, Walter Martello – ENRE Controller – said: “Given the seriousness of the situation and as indicated by the Ministry of Energy and the technical review that we are going to formulate, We will act accordingly due to the possible expiration of the concession of the electricity distribution service in charge of the company Edesur”.

Martello had questioned that Edesur was apologizing for the lack of production due to the 200,000 cuts, but “they themselves are responsible for the power stations from which they should be supplied that the Enel group controls. The lack of investment is the real cause and this possible peak in demand was known in advance”.

Faced with the supply interruption of the last few days, ENRE explained that “CAMMESA, the operator of the Argentine interconnection system (SADI), has confirmed that it has not requested any cuts in any of the areas or regions of the country since the peak has been mined with optimum reserves.

Later, the entity reported that “SACME, the operator of the high voltage network of Edenor and Edesur, reported having ordered restrictions due to voltage drops in the 220 Kv and 132 kv networks and/or saturation of transmission equipment”.

In this sense, ENRE pointed out that “the ENEL group has more than 1,500 MW out of service due to unforeseen unavailability in the GBA area, including Central Costanera and Central Dock Sud”.

“Today we recorded maximum power at 4:00 p.m. across the country. This is a historic record for a Sunday, the previous one was recorded on December 11, 2021 with 23,724 MW”, detailed the electrician on his official Twitter account.
