Dismissal of the Court: the ruling party prepares a timetable for the production of evidence

“We are going to present a work plan. Once the investigation has been opened, we must make a schedule of development of evidence, summoning of witnesses, experts and generation of measures of evidence to help us determine if the initial suspicions are consolidated, ”explained the president of the Frente de Todos bloc in the Chamber of Deputies, and member of the Commission, German Martinez. “We will discuss each test measure that is presented with the Commission itself. This is a huge institutional step forward in the impeachment process,” added MP Rosario.

In principle, the commission in which the first witnesses will appear will be the March 2.

The main unknown is whether they will call all four justices of the Supreme Court of Justice to testify – Horacio Rosatti, Carlos Rosenkrantz, Juan Carlos Maqueda and Ricardo Lorenzetti- and when will it happen. At this point, Martínez explained that “The judges of the Court will never sit before us except when invited towards the end of the Commission process.”

In the midst of this process, the Frente de Todos plans to call several witnesses as the right hand of the President of the Court, Silvio Roblesand the Minister of Justice and Security on leave from the city of Buenos Aires, Marcelo D´alessandro. In this case, they will be summoned to testify and they have the obligation to attend. If they do not do so, the presidency of the Commission can ask a judge to search for them with the police.

At the same time, the ruling party is seeking to promote a session in the Chamber of Deputies before February 28, the closing date of ordinary sessions. “There are two pressing issues among the deputies: the moratorium on pensions and the digital medical record project,” Martínez explained in a radio interview. “I am ready to promote a short session, with a short agenda, which allows us to move forward on the urgent, and I would like all the political blocs to accompany them,” added the leader of the bloc.

This week, however, it would be quite difficult for the Frente de Todos to bring together the 11 deputies it lacks to reach a quorum, and taking advantage of the fact that the deputies from the provinces that make up the “middle” blocs next week will already be in town of Buenos Aires to prepare for the start of regular sessions, the ruling party will seek to add wills.

Among the topics he will propose for a short session are the creation of the Laguna El Palmar National Park, the differential pension scheme for workers who work or have worked as forest or rural firefighters in national or provincial organizations of transferred funds. With these two issues, he will seek to convene the deputies of the provinces that make up the Federal and United Provinces interbloc and thus move forward without the need for the support of the deputies of Together for Change who maintain their refusal to meet until that the ruling party withdraw the demands for the dismissal of the judges of the Court.
