Incredible as it may seem, one of the main characters of Bridgerton will not return to his role in the second season of this hit story.
This Friday it was announced that Regé-Jean Page, who gave life to the Duke of Hastings in the popular series Bridgerton, will no longer be part of the cast of the second season of the Netflix production.
Through the official account of the series, in the purest style of Lady Whistledown, it was announced that she will not participate in the second season, although the reason why this decision was made was not disclosed.
“We will miss Simon’s on-screen presence, but he will always be part of the Bridgerton family. Daphne will continue to be a devoted wife and sister helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers can bear. Yours sincerely, Lady Whistledown, ”the statement said.
On the other hand, the actor also published a message on his social networks saying goodbye to the iconic character.
“It has been a pleasure and a privilege to be your Duke. Join this family, not just on screen, but off screen as well. Our incredibly creative and generous cast, crew, and fans – it’s all gone beyond anything you could have imagined. Love is real and it will continue to grow ”.
The second season of Bridgerton, a series created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes, does not yet have an official release date, although filming has already begun so the series could be released in 2022 on Netflix.
At the end of 2020, the Bridgerton series was released, which is considered one of the most viewed on Netflix.
The period series follows the story of Daphne Bridgerton, eldest daughter of the powerful family and her debut in the competitive London marriage market in the Regency period. Daphne, eager to find true love like her parents did, seems to have the best chances.
However, as her older brother begins to dismiss potential suitors, the scandalous publication of the mysterious Lady Whistledown raises serious doubts about her persona in London high society.
It is then that the Duke of Hastings appears, inveterate and rebellious bachelor, in addition to the dream of all debutante mothers.
While both express their disinterest in each other, the chemistry between Daphne and the Duke is undeniable as their sharp wits clash as they grapple with society’s expectations of their future.
The character of Lady Whistledown will continue to narrate the details and secrets of each of those involved in Bridgerton. At the moment Netflix has not given more details of what will come with the second installment: it will be enough to wait to learn more about them.
