A Reddit user came across a real treasure thanks to her parents. In a post, Lanai reports that while cleaning their home, his parents came across a gift that had been missing for decades. It’s a sealed copy of Pokémon Blue that’s now worth thousands of euros.
Pokémon Blue is the first part of the now incredibly popular series. In 1996 the game was released in Japan together with Pokémon Red for the Nintendo Game Boy. Pokémon Blue and Red have sold over 31 million copies worldwide.
Lost birthday present
In the post, Lanai presents the old Gameboy game, which is still in its absolute original state from 1996. According to his father, his parents bought him the game for his birthday. However, they moved it before the birthday, so they had to buy a new game. This time they got the red edition and gave it away instead.

In 2020, a Pokémon Red with a rating of 9.8 sold at auction for $ 84,000. So it is very possible to get a decent amount of money for it. Lanai is not interested in selling it. For him, the emotional value is higher than the monetary:
“I’m over the moon to have this game in such good shape, but I’m even happier to have it as a physical representation of my parents’ love and a blessed childhood. This will be a keepsake that I will hold on to. “
