While we don’t yet know if there will be a John Wick 5, Lionsgate will continue to expand the franchise in other ways, with spinoffs like Ballerina. This tape, which will star Ana de Armas, was announced a long time ago, and little information has yet been given about it. At the very least, we now know an approximate release date and some details about its story. That’s all we know about it.

When will Ballerina be released?

During an interview with Deadline, Lionsgate President Joe Drake revealed that Ballerina will be among the launches the studio has prepared for 2024. Additionally, Drake added that the film will be released in the spring or summer. This is great news for John Wick fans, as they won’t have to wait long for a new installment in the franchise.

What is the plot of Ballerina?

For now, we know that Ana de Armas will play Rooney, a dancer-turned-assassin who was featured in John Wick 3: Parabellum. Although, in this tape the character was played by Unity Phelan. Ballerina’s events will take place between John Wick 3 and the recent John Wick 4, so it’s possible the tape will have Keanu Reeves’ participation.

Why The Ballerina Will Be Important To The Future Of The John Wick Franchise

With doubts about whether there will be a fifth episode of John Wick, Ballerina is a very important experiment to see if the saga can continue to progress without the presence of Reeves. The actor may still appear in Ballerina, but the film will continue to focus on Rooney’s character. If Ballerina achieves the same success as other installments in the franchise, it’s quite possible that Lionsgate will focus on that and other spinoffs, and that Reeves will end up taking over the series in the future.

What about John Wick 5?

Although John Wick 4 has already wrapped up the John Wick story, at least in theory, the critical and box office success this sequel has had is hard for a study to ignore. So it wouldn’t be surprising if Lionsgate ended up continuing the story of the notorious killer in some way. For the moment, there has been no confirmation. Director Chad Stahelski doesn’t seem willing to work on John Wick 5, but Reeves takes a very different view. We can only wait to see what decisions Lionsgate will make regarding the saga.
