Seminole County authorities have issued a rabies alert after a cat tested positive. The warning was issued for counties east of Geneva.

Residents and visitors to the area bordered on the north by Wildwood Trail, on the east by Stone Street, on the south by Genova Court and on the west by Pine Hill Boulevard should avoid contact with stray or unfamiliar cats and animals .

Alerts are designed to increase public awareness, but keep in mind that rabies activity can also occur outside the alert zone.

Residents and visitors to Seminole County should be aware that rabies is present in the wildlife population and domestic animals are at risk if not vaccinated.
