US Border Agents Seize Four Shipments of Guns and Drugs in One Day in Arizona

The observation of the officers, the technology and the joint work of the K9, prevented the entry of these drugs.

The drug cartels in Mexico suffered a severe blow, after Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents assured four illicit shipments at the port of entry in Nogales, Arizona, almost simultaneously.

In the first event, a vehicle with long weapons was detected that intended to enter Mexican territory. In the unit, 11 assault rifles were found, one of them caliber .50, as well as a handgun with a report of theft and a cylinder magazine for high capacity of useful cartridges.

The other three seizures occurred on the access lanes to the United States, where a total of 275,000 fentanyl pillsalmost two kilograms of powdered fentanyl, 31.2 kilograms of cocaine and another 12.2 kilograms of methamphetamine.

In this regard, the Port Director, Michael W. Humphries explained that these seizures were achieved after discovering the packages with the narcotics hidden in various places such as on the floor of a vehicle, inside the fuel tank and in other places of the used automotive units.

“The observation of the officers, the technology and the K9 working together prevented the entry of these drugs,” Humphries said.

In relation to the seizure of weapons, the US official stated that With this coup, said arsenal is prevented from reaching transnational criminal organizations..

Regarding the discovery of the rifles, it should be noted that this is not a daily or usual procedure, since only on some occasions do US customs agents inspect the vehicles that are leaving the country.

Nevertheless, This is not the first time that a shipment of weapons has been detected that intends to enter Mexico through the border with Arizona.. Just a month ago, customs agents discovered four AK-47 assault rifles and a pistol hidden in a vehicle.
