Orlando Florida. – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will release his legislative letters to undo last-minute deals passed by the outgoing Reedy Creek Improvement District council that left his appointees with their hands tied.

He and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson announced they would seek to overturn through legislation the resolution that Disney has “overriding authority” over all land development decisions for the 27,000 acres that make up Walt Disney. World, including two small Disney-controlled towns in the district.

“Disney’s corporate reign is over, despite its repeated and futile attempts to circumvent the legislature and the will of the people,” DeSantis said.

The executive assured that Disney had “foiled” the state.

“Their media cheerleaders thought Disney and would therefore operate on equal footing with every other business in Florida. I look forward to the additional actions that the state board of control will implement in the coming days,” he said.

The governor cited Section 163.3241 (Florida Statutes), which requires revocation of a development agreement if lawmakers pass legislation that prevents the agreement from being enforceable.

The new board is expected to meet to declare the RCID development agreement void and unenforceable.
