Pfizer Requests FDA Clearance for Emergency Use of Its COVID-19 Vaccine

Pfizer requests permission from the US to use its vaccine against Covid-19 in minors between 12 and 15 years old.

The pharmaceutical companies Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE, responsible for the development of one of the vaccines against Covid-19 on the market, have requested the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to allow the emergency use of your medicine in minors between 12 and 15 years of age.

The companies indicated this Friday through an official statement that the request is based on a clinical trial who assured last week that his vaccine is 100% effective in people of that age and does not present any risk to their health.

The vaccine from the pharmaceutical companies Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE has received federal authorization since the end of last year for its application in those over 16 years of age and if the new application is accepted by the FDA, hundreds of thousands of students in the US will be able to receive the first of two doses.

Albert Bourla, CEO of Pfizer, indicated when it was announced on the results of the recent clinical trial that it was possible to vaccinate this population group before the start of the following school year.

“Depending on the regulatory decision, our hope is to make the vaccine available to the population group between 12 and 15 years of age before the 2021 school year begins,” he indicated through the pharmacist’s Twitter account.
