There is the first phase of the “Link at Douglas” project, near the intersection of Douglas Road and US-1.

“An agreement with the promoters so that the project benefits local workers,” said Levine Cava.

Two residential buildings stand here, with affordable rental apartments for local workers, a new supermarket, restaurants, shops and an improved metro station.

According to the investors, “the goal is to improve transportation in the area by promoting the use of public transport, as well as affordable housing for those who work in the area and by facilitating connections between the main points of Miami. via the metro.

“We have to maintain affordability for workers, otherwise we can’t grow and move forward with the recovery of the economy,” Levine Cava said.

This is public land in Miami Dade, leased by private developers to complete the project, and which has also invested $17 million in improving transportation infrastructure in the area, which includes “a parking for those who will use the metrorail, a public square and also the rehabilitation of this metro station which will be the norm in Miami Dade”.

In addition to these two buildings and two more to be constructed on the east side of US-1, Miami Dade’s agreement with 13th Floor Investments and the Adler Group includes a renovation of the Douglas Road subway station whose residents are already grateful.

“I think the only solution for transport here is to increase the quality of service and increase public transport services in general; otherwise, the problem will not be solved”, confides a resident of the district.
