This mechanic is hilarious and has incredible potential because the 3 types of vehicles are totally independent, so you can have a small car and a gigantic boat. Or a better example, a very small and fast car and a bulky SUV, slower but which will make our opponents think before they get too close to us.
Being in the race means that if we are very far ahead, we may prefer to go by road, whereas if we are head-to-head, it may be in our interest to go by land and push our opponents back with the SUV. Many areas on all tracks have all 3 types of terrain and choosing where to go will be the key to victory.
The Garage, the strong point of Lego 2K Drive
The second strong point of 2K Lego Player it is without a doubt the Garage, where we can build our vehicles with the infinite freedom that Lego pieces offer. And yes, I mean that literally. In Lego 2K Drive we can create our vehicles piece by piece. The game will give us a chassis and wheels and from there we have practically absolute freedom to let our imagination run wild, from a replica of Alonso’s Aston Martin to the biggest aberration that can happen to you . We will have over 1000 different Lego pieces to choose from and you can place them (almost) however you want.
When they explained this to me it completely blew my mind but the question that really arose was whether the design of the car would really impact the gameplay and I can assure you that is the case. Each part we put in place will not only make the vehicle heavier, but also change its center of gravity and make it more or less manageable. You can build a car that takes corners very well, a very fast car but harder to control, something in between… That said, the possibilities are so numerous that it is better to try for yourself.
The Garage is undoubtedly the biggest attraction at Lego 2K Drive. I had the opportunity to spend half an hour testing it and I can assure you that the minutes flew by. He would have spent the rest of the afternoon testing parts and seeing their impact on the physics of the vehicle. It is true that there are many of them and that we will unlock them as the story progresses, but this is an option that escaped me. If you are looking for a Lego game in which you collect everything around you like a magnet, then 2K Lego player It’s not for you. I also believe that the game suffers from a lack of personality Which is hard to understand, especially when it comes to Lego. The scenarios have super generic themes, but what “annoyed” me the most was that the bone power ups (the items we use in the race) are generic and have little or nothing to do with Lego.
