Yesterday was pretty busy for those of us dedicated to covering the world of video games for two simple reasons: the presentation of Counter-Strike 2 and the start of the CDG 2023. At the event held in San Francisco, a an event that many did not expect much but ended up surprising enough with the announcements that have been made there, in particular those of The Lords of the Fallen and Project M.

During his so-called state of unrealEpic Games unveiled new technical demos of the Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine and showed some examples of how Lumen and Nanite technologies are applied in previously announced video games for PC and consoles. And two of the works that showed their graphic muscle at the American fair were the ambitious Project M and the expected The Lords of the Dead.

Are we facing the graphics of the future?

The Lords of the Dead

  • Hexworksdeveloper of The Lords of the Deadboasted of a very high level of detail in their sets and characters through a short video shown in the state of the unreal
  • Both architecture as the lightning in different parts of the map it is quite reminiscent of the one that presented the Demon’s Souls remake for PS5
  • The character editor will also be very complete and will offer a wide range of options to create the avatar you have in mind
  • In addition, the company has created its own tool in UE5 to be able to change the world (going from the world of the living to the world of the dead) without any transition and very naturally

Project M

  • Project M is the most ambitious video game in the history of the South Korean company NCSOFT (Lineage, Guild Wars)
  • Instead of continuing to bet on securities online, Project M will be an interactive adventure à la Detroit: Become Human whose gameplay practically It looks like a cutscene made with CGI
  • And for those who don’t buy that level of graphical fidelity, the study included a few seconds of gameplay that confirm that we are facing a new generation experience

When will these two video games be released?

The Lords of the Dead It’s slated to launch this year for PCs and current-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S). As it concerns Project M we have a lot less information, there isn’t even a release window for this job, and it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting it anytime soon. Of course, for now, it’s confirmed for consoles.
