Between Kazuki Akane’s health issues and the lack of official support for Hoshiai no Sora, it’s all been a daunting task.

Hoshiai no Soracontinues to have one of the most abrupt and poorly handled conclusions of anime’s last decade. In the end, all the fuss comes down to what an anime that was supposed to have 24 episodes in theory, was drastically cut in half with little time for those responsible for the anime in question to come to a proper conclusion. Come on, a real business disaster. However, years later, whoever directed the anime keeps trying to give it the continuity it deserves…but It doesn’t look good.

Hoshiai no Sora isn’t dead yet, but he certainly looks very much alive.

This was recently explained by director Kazuki Akane, who after being at the controls of the anime “Hoshiai no Sora” threw himself YEARS of trying to get things done of this episode 12 which ended everything “just like that” (via ANN):

  • Hoshiai no Sora director comments that he has been writing for a while a review of the entire plot of Hoshiai no Sora considering what the episodes would have been like after the anime’s conclusion, especially with the immediate episode 13 in mind.
Hoshiai no Sora had a lot more potential than what we ended up seeing in the anime.
  • He also comments that He plans to release said sequel directly online and only in Japanese. The reason is that he tried to use machine translations to come up with an international adaptation of the script (mainly because it got a lot of interest from international fans), but the result wasn’t satisfying, which caused many translations to lose basic notions of the story.
  • On the other hand, Akane-san also explains that He hasn’t been particularly well in terms of health for a few years. While he doesn’t go into specific details about his condition, he says it still held him back from progressing on this project as originally planned.

Honestly, I still think what happened with the “Hoshiai no Sora” anime is such a shame, especially since the director, after so much time later, continues to actively and passively try to achieve the originally planned resolution. , before they were kicked out with almost no warning. In all cases, For our part, the only thing we can do is be patient and see if it ends up leading to anything..
