A 65-year-old father and his 6-year-old son died in a fire in Queens (NYC) early yesterday morning.

The fire broke out around 1:10 a.m. on the first floor of a two-story home on 157th Street near 46th Avenue in East Flushing, FDNY reported.

Stephen Blumling (65) and his son Shawn (6) were discovered unconscious inside the back bedroom. Both were declared dead at the scene.

The boy’s twin brother managed to escape the fire and was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he is being treated for second-degree burns to his face and hands. His 41-year-old mother refused medical attention at the scene for smoke inhalation, sources said.

Four people on the second floor managed to escape unscathed and were helped by the Red Cross. Two firefighters were hospitalized with minor injuries.

Sixty members of the FDNY and EMS responded to the fire, which was brought under control around 2:20 a.m. The cause was not immediately known, the New York Post noted.
