The first winner of the $1 million Colorado drawing will be announced at 12:45 p.m., Friday, June 4, according to the office of Gov. Jared Polis.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis announced in late May a weekly state drawing for five residents to win $ 1 million, with the goal of incentivizing people to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The way to pick the winner, it won’t be millions of numbered balls in a rolling cage – the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment converted patient information into numbers, and the Colorado Lottery is using a random number picker to pick the winning number.

Anyone over 18 years old and a Colorado resident who has received the vaccine or at least one dose will automatically enter the lottery system.

The state will also announce scholarships for youth ages 12 to 17 who are vaccinated, Polis said.
